Deril J. Lees, PharmD
Dr.
Deril J. Lees, Sr. is the owner and founder of The Apothecary Shoppe locations
throughout the Tulsa, Oklahoma metro area. Dr. Lees is a Tulsa native and a
graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy, class of 1979 B.S.
and PharmD 2003. From 1981-1999, he owned and operated Inola Drug located in
Inola, Oklahoma, and continued on to open The Apothecary Shoppe in June of 1995,
The Apothecary Shoppe of Broken Arrow in December 2000, and the Getman-Apothecary
Shoppe in June 2003.
Dr. Lees has served as a consultant pharmacist for nursing homes, hospices as
well as participated in the Regional and National Advisory Counsel for Bergen
Brunswig’s Good Neighbor Pharmacy Program. He has also served on the Board of
Directors for the Bank of Inola and the International Academy of Compounding
Pharmacists. In April 1994, Dr. Lees received the Pharmacist of the Month award
from the Professional Compounding Centers of America, and in 2000, he was the
recipient of the Innovative Pharmacy Practice award from the Oklahoma
Pharmacists Association. Dr. Lees currently serves as an adjunct faculty member
at the University of Oklahoma and has earned over 1,000 hours of continuing
education in the area of compounding. Dr. Lees has over 25 years of experience
and success in billing third-party entities for compounded prescriptions.
Alyssa Sanders, PharmD
Dr.
Alyssa Lees-Sanders attended the University Of Oklahoma College Of Pharmacy and
graduated in May 2004. Dr. Sanders was awarded the "Natural Medicines
Recognition" award, an honor given to a senior student exhibiting excellence in
patient care and alternative therapies. She has completed internships for the
Oklahoma Department of Medicaid Prior Authorizations Unit, Walgreen’s, Newt
Discount Drug in Guthrie, and Lassiter Drug in Del City as well as internships
at the University of Oklahoma Schusterman Center.
Dr. Sanders has honed her skills of third-party billing under the direction of
her father, Dr. Deril Lees. Dr. Sanders has significant experience with
responding to third-party audits and has counseled numerous pharmacists and
pharmacies on proper billing and audit response techniques.
Jacob G. Jackson, Esq.
Jacob G. (“Jake”) Jackson is General Counsel and Director of Business
Development at The Apothecary Shoppe, Inc.
Mr. Jackson graduated from the University of Missouri in 2003 with a Bachelor of
Arts in Political Science and was a three-year letter award winner in basketball
for the Missouri Tigers under the direction of Coach Quin Snyder. While at
Mizzou, Mr. Jackson and the Missouri Tigers reached the Elite Eight during the
2001-2002 season.
In 2006, Mr. Jackson graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law and
began his practice of law in Kansas City, Missouri, for a Top 100 law firm.
During his time in Kansas City, Mr. Jackson focused on corporate law,
specifically mergers and acquisitions of closely held businesses. In 2007, Mr.
Jackson, and a long-time friend and fellow MU law grad, formed their own law
firm, Jackson Pummill, LLC, where Mr. Jackson focused on class action litigation
stemming from the abusive practices of large pharmaceutical manufacturers in
their treatment of independent pharmacies throughout the country.
In 2008, Mr. Jackson joined the Missouri Attorney General’s Office as an
Assistant Attorney General under (now) Governor Jeremiah W. (“Jay”) Nixon. While
at the Attorney General’s Office, Mr. Jackson worked with the Attorney General
on high profile cases including the sale of a not-for-profit hospital to a
for-profit hospital management company.
Since moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma in December of 2008 and commencing his role as
General Counsel for The Apothecary Shoppe, Inc., Mr. Jackson has worked with
outside legal counsel and health care professionals to protect the rights of
independent pharmacies involved in the pharmacy compounding industry, which
includes a recent trip to Washington D.C. to lobby Oklahoma Congressional
leaders on the importance of pharmacy compounding here in the State of Oklahoma.
In his role as general counsel, Mr. Jackson has learned from the inside what it
takes to successfully defend the rights of independent compounding pharmacies.
Kasey D. Jackson, Esq.
Kasey
Lees-Jackson majored in Marketing at the University of Oklahoma and graduated
with a Bachelor in Business Administration. While at the University of Oklahoma,
Kasey was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Kasey furthered her studies at the
University of Tulsa, College of Law. She graduated in 2006 and was the recipient
of the Outstanding Woman Law Graduate Award from the University of Tulsa. Kasey
practiced law in Missouri while attending the Washington University in St.
Louis. Kasey graduated in 2008 with her Master of Laws in Taxation.
Deril J. Lees, Jr., PharmD
Dr.
Lees is a graduate from the University of Oklahoma, College of Pharmacy. While
attending the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Lees studied different methods and
techniques of Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy in order to complete his
dissertation. He has been given the opportunity to work in every position at The
Apothecary Shoppe and is now a compounding pharmacist.
